The following documents comprise The Neverending Saga, a work in three parts created by the users of GweepNets I through IV.
The Original Saga, which appeared in GweepNets I and II, doesn't really come to a conclusion. More accurately, at one point in the story there ceases to be any more text. The story was forcibly ended when a hard drive crash ended the life of GweepNet II. It is, however, followed up later on. The main characters were created (for an entirely different story) by Jim White. Oh, and so's you know, ``Gloopy'' (a character in Donato Miranda's post - you'll get to it) came about because his creator was just a wee bit drunk one night ... and caused a general response of HUH? which has lasted to this day.
Hellchecker was a ``play'' (we use the term loosely) which was actually submitted (late, after a mad flurry of activity to get it somewhere near done - we failed, by the way) for New Voices 11 in 1993. Thankfully, it was rejected, but here it is anyway. It, too, is followed up in the third section. Special merit (or extra blame, take your pick) here goes to Nicole Weiner, who wrote the love letter (after Derek called her and said ``would you write a love letter for me?''), and Josh Brandt, who created the ... err ... modified version. That scene and Act I stand as the only ones we're not ashamed of.
The Continuing Saga began on GweepNet III, and was finished on GweepNet IV in August 1994. Read the first two books first ... there's enough plot convolution in this thing to choke a horse. (Which is truly amazing, since there's only faint evidence of a plot.) Stars a cast of thousands.
Finally, the authors (with GweepNet IV handles, if any):
